A Mixed Reality HoloLens application can teach mechanics the process of replacing the brake pad.
Step-by-step instructions and holographic animations guide the user through the process.
The application is voice controlled, allowing true hands-free operation. Detailed animations show where to apply pressure with a wrench or hit with a hammer.
Even a complete beginner has no problem performing the procedure with HoloLens.
This holographic app is a well-received proof-of-concept that can be expanded to incorporate a much wider variety of car maintenance procedures, ultimately replacing the thick paper based maintenance manual.
